TAGs - Results Day, Appeals and Support

Year 11,

This page is designed to supply you all the information you need about the TAGs for 2021, including results day, the appeals process and support we can offer you. If you've any questions, do get in touch with your House Leader via ePraise...

Results Day

  • Thursday 12th August 2021
  • Arrive from 9.30am in the Drama Studio (assuming no Covid-19 measures in place)
  • Receive your TAG certificate and get some photos (officially printed version come later in the year)
  • The TAG certificates will also be published electronically to ePraise which can then be downloaded - this will be available by early evening

If we are required to follow Covid-19 protocols then we will need to stagger the collection of results by House - we'll be in touch if this is the case.

*If you cannot collect in person, you can send a representative with a letter signed by you and they must bring ID confirming who they are.

**Any TAG certificates not collected will be held by our examinations officer - you can email to make arrangements to collect in September if not collected on results day.

You might have some questions about your next steps only Results Day in terms of college / apprenticeships / work - House Leaders, Mr Lewis and members of staff will be around to provide advice and care in what has been such an exceptional year for you all...

All students have the right to appeal, of which there are two stages:

  • Stage 1 - the centre review where Noadswood will check the correct grade the teacher submitted has been uploaded to the board correctly and that the procedures that led to the submission of the grade were followed properly and consistently (see our Key Principles page)
  • Stage 2 - award organisation appeals - this can only be done if students feel the stage 1 appeal did not properly resolve concerns about administrative or procedural errors. Students can also appeal on the basis of academic judgement which means there are three main stages of appeal:
    • Noadswood did not follow its procedure properly or consistently in arriving at the result / during the centre review
    • The awarding organisation made an administrative error
    • Noadswood made an unreasonable exercise of academic judgement in the choice of evidence from which to determine the grade

When the TAGs have been awarded you'll have an opportunity to speak to staff during the Results Day - if you wish to appeal, you, the student, must put in writing the appeal specifics (subject + reasons for the appeal) and email our exams officer who will contact you within 48 hours. The email is exams@noadswood.hants.sch.uk

For further information, please view the JCQ appeals documentation which has been released to centres (click here):

We very much hope that you've felt as supported as possible during the TAG process, and have been informed at every step our principles, how the process will work and via our grade range certificates and communication with subject teachers / team leaders the expected grade range you're likely to have achieved. We've tried at every step to follow our key mantra of being:

  • Valid - our assessment will measure what it is supposed to measure
  • Fair - it is non-discriminatory and matches expectations
  • Transparent - our assessment process is clear and you're aware of your grade ranges from the earliest opportunity

On Results Day we will be around to support and offer guidance, as well as many congratulations for all the hard work that has been put in.

We will remain available to you over the summer and into September to assist where we can.

With all best wishes,

Kathryn Marshall and the Noadswood Leadership Team
